Heart Burn Prevention: Tips For Spicy Food Lovers

If you suffer from heartburn you already know that spicy foods tend to be a trigger. While there is no solution that is perfect, there are some things you can try to see what your body will and will not tolerate. One thing you can do is sample one spicy food at a time–in small doses. This will allow you to see which versions your body can tolerate, if any. You may be able to eat spicy foods in moderation if you are careful not to overdo it.

A good prevention strategy is to avoid spicy foods, but you can expand your horizons with other types of cuisine. Even if you can’t have that hot and spicy salsa, you may find you enjoy other strong tastes or interesting flavors. Try experimenting with various ethnic dishes or try out a recipe for something you have never had before. You may not be able to go back to your old eating habits, but that doesn’t mean that you can’t find things to replace the spicy foods in your diet–you’ll just enjoy the foods for different reasons. If you can focus on the new things you have added to your diet instead of what you are missing out on, you’ll be sure to appreciate the new direction instead of lamenting the lack of spice!
